Client Engagement Director

Position Title: Client Engagement Director

Location: Remote (U.S. Based)

Type of Role: Full-time

We are seeking a senior-level Client Engagement Director (CED) to lead large, complex client engagements and serve as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders. This role requires exceptional client leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to guide cross-functional teams to deliver measurable, high-impact results. The CED will drive engagement success from planning through execution while supporting account growth and long-term client partnerships.


Key Responsibilities

Client Leadership & Strategic Partnership

  • Serve as the primary relationship leader for large, complex global client accounts, fostering executive-level trust and partnership.
  • Align with client executives on strategic objectives, qualitative and quantitative success metrics, and overall engagement direction.
  • Identify opportunities to expand client impact through renewals, additional scopes of work, and new business development.

Engagement Delivery & Results Management

  • Lead the end-to-end execution of major client engagements, ensuring all deliverables are on time, on scope, and aligned with client expectations.
  • Oversee and coordinate cross-functional engagement teams, including Lead Consultants, Facilitators, and Client Operations colleagues.
  • Guide change management strategy, communications, and execution to support client transformation initiatives and evolving need.
  • Proactively identify risks and challenges, implementing intelligent and agile solutions to maintain momentum and outcomes.

Facilitation, Coaching & Executive Communication

  • Lead and facilitate client stakeholder discussions and presentations, and act as trusted advisor throughout the life of the engagement.
  • Communicate with clarity and influence across all levels—from front-line participants to C‑suite executives.
  • Represent RAIN Group’s methodologies, frameworks, and point of view with professionalism and confidence.

Operational Excellence & Commercial Performance

  • Ensure rigorous management of timelines, milestones, and service level expectations.
  • Drive internal alignment across engagement teams, maintaining visibility into project health and escalating issues appropriately.
  • Support account development activities and partner with sales teams to penetrate, expand, and protect client accounts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.
  • Approximately 10+ years of experience in client management, consulting, sales enablement, or a related field with demonstrated success in planning and leading complex, high-value client engagements.
  • High emotional intelligence with a demonstrated ability to navigate organizational dynamics, and build trust with stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives. Strong commercial acumen and experience supporting account development, renewals, and expansion strategies.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, presentation) with the ability to command a room and influence diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong project and program management capabilities with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
  • Experience in planning, developing, or facilitating learning programs preferred.
  • High level of comfort with technology, including Microsoft Office and CRM platforms; ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to change, navigate ambiguity, and maintain composure under pressure.
