Business Development Manager

Position Title: Business Development Manager (BDM)

Location: Remote (U.S. Based)

Type of Role: Full-time

As the BDM, you will be responsible for developing the outbound sales function for RAIN Group. You will create and develop new business opportunities by identifying, contacting, and qualifying potential customers against our targeted ideal client profile. You will serve as the entry point of communication for prospects and play a key role in filling the sales pipeline by targeting and booking qualified meetings for the sales team.


Role Highlights

You'll work within our client and product teams and be responsible for partnering directly with clients to execute the delivery of our programs, so they achieve mutually agreed-upon client results. This includes tailoring content, delivering and facilitating sessions, providing coaching, and reinforcing key concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Research target accounts, identify key stakeholders, and personalize outreach.
  • Conduct outbound prospecting through calls, emails, social outreach, and other channels to generate new leads.
  • Assess a prospect’s business needs, budget, timeline, and decision-making process.
  • Schedule introductory calls for Senior Sales Consultants.
  • Collaborate with marketing to optimize lead quality, campaign effectiveness, and feedback loops.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the company’s offerings and services to effectively communicate value to prospects.
  • Use CRM to track interactions, manage leads, and update pipeline activity.
  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly targets for leads generated and meetings booked.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, enthusiasm, and persistence in prospect interactions.
  • Work closely with Sales Leadership to ensure smooth handover of opportunities and alignment on ICP and qualification criteria.
  • Develop and refine outbound and inbound lead qualification workflows.
  • Create and manage Business Development playbooks, messaging frameworks, and prospecting strategies.
  • Experiment with new outreach channels, messaging, and cadences.
  • Support overall revenue strategy through forecasting and strategic planning.

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to handle targeted outreach and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Resilience, self-motivation, and a results-driven attitude.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new tools, processes, and messaging.
  • 5+ years of SDR/BDR experience, including leadership or team-lead experience.
  • Proven ability to hit or exceed pipeline targets through outbound efforts.
  • Strong coaching skills with a focus on developing early-career sales talent.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical abilities.
  • Experience with CRM systems and sales engagement platforms.

Preferred

  • 3+ years of people-management experience in a high-growth environment.
  • Experience in B2B SaaS, tech, or other high-velocity sales environments.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools and KPI dashboards.

Success Metrics

  • Number of qualified meetings booked
  • Conversion rate from outreach to opportunity
  • Activity metrics (calls, emails, sequences completed)
  • Quality of pipeline generated

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary range for this role is $80,000-$100,000. Final compensation will be determined based on a range of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, job-related qualifications, and geographic location.
