Director, Enterprise Business Development

RAIN Group, an award-winning global provider of innovative sales training and performance improvement services, is seeking an experienced Director, Enterprise Business Development to add to our expanding team.

This is a remote role, with a preferred home office location in the Western United States.

In this role, you won't be tied to a specified geographic selling territory, and will be unrestricted in your ability to hunt new business. You'll have the opportunity to do your best work by leveraging our wide and deep portfolio of innovative offerings, and focus your energy and effort on generating, winning, and expanding business. When you join the team, you'll be able to capitalize on our collaborative working environment, including: access to sales subject matter experts; a selling team consisting of colleagues with extensive complex consultative selling experience; and a close working relationship with marketing, enablement, and client delivery and success teams. You'll become fluent in leading masterful sales conversations the RAIN Group way. As you'll be selling sales training, you'll fully embrace and represent RAIN Group’s sales methodology and processes, modeling these for prospective clients so they can see our approach come alive.

About You

If you’ve achieved a high level of success in your recent roles, we expect you'll be achievement oriented, an extraordinary communicator with words and numbers, and have a high attention to detail. We're also looking for the following:

  • Passion, commitment, intensity, and focus in hunting and winning new clients
  • Demonstrated strength as a hunter with a proven record of converting clients from a cold start
  • Proven ability to sell proactively in a consultative, client-focused manner
  • Verifiable history of sales success in business-to-business, complex, enterprise-level sales
  • Experience selling to senior executives in large and mid-size companies in the Fortune 500
  • Ability to drive demand by persuasively sharing insights and new ideas with buyers
  • Confidence, gravitas and (appropriate) assertiveness, including the ability to take control and lead discussions, and defend a point of view
  • 10 or more years in sales as an individual contributor
  • Ability to self-motivate and think creatively
  • Strong conceptual thinking skill and aptitude for business
  • Emotional intelligence, with the ability to manage your own and others’ emotions
  • Unwavering integrity, conviction, and objective judgment
  • A high level of comfort interacting with executives both internally and externally
  • Industry contacts and connections a plus
  • Established success working in a remote/home office organization

  • Generate leads through a proactive outbound sales effort
  • Architect custom solutions, following extensive needs discovery, that leverage the full spectrum of RAIN Group’s comprehensive education system
  • Tailor discussion documents and proposals to reflect each prospective client’s unique needs
  • Negotiate and maintain premium pricing
  • Collaborate with RAIN Group’s Principals, other sellers, facilitators, consultants, coaches, operations and marketing teams, and other relevant team members to source and win sales, and ensure successful sales to delivery transitions
  • Travel when appropriate to meet prospects and clients face-to-face

Position Requirements
  • Undergraduate/bachelor's degree
  • Experience selling corporate training, business consulting, and/or related offerings strongly preferred; willing to consider candidates with experience selling within other service industries
  • Home office preferably located in the Western US; located within or nearby a major metropolitan area such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Austin/Dallas, or Chicago
  • Travel up to 20%

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is a competitive base salary plus commission. We offer health insurance through Tufts Health Plan, dental insurance, 401k plan and a generous mix of all-purpose vacation, sick, and personal days.
